I hope my friend forgives me for sharing this without asking, and it's going against Amma's wishes about sharing the Amritapuri satsangs on the internet, but I can't resist. From a friend who's there now:

"At the satsang today, Amma said She's getting tired of answering our questions when no one is waking up or becoming realized."

Yeah, but if your guru's wishes are not to share the satsangs that way,
then they shouldn't. I only shared a line. But me thinks I'm too in the
head and not enough in the heart...

Well, if I were her, I'd be kind a pissed too, what will all the sheeple so absorbed in adoring her that they've managed to shove their own heads up their own asses so far that they can't see, hear or feel straight..

But hey: if the checks keep rolling in, whose to complain too loudly?

guess you've had a lot of experience with Amma devotees.

the reason no one is having any awakenings is because they are worshipping her.

no one can awaken anyone but ourselves.

Ammas teachings awakened Amma but obviously this world has taken them the wrong way.

people get hugs from her to get healed.???

people push eachother out of the way to be close to her..???

This world needs a more revolutionary Guru than Amma is being at this point.

people go get there hugs and then go home and talk, watch a movie, have multiple orgasms and do there mantras.

The world is profoundly asleep with karma that is only getting heavier.

"no one can awaken anyone but ourselves"???
What philosophy does this come from, or is it just a 'feeling' (you closeted New Ager)?

Agree on the point that the world has taken them the wrong way.
But more accurately, she gives more attention to the junkfood
spirituality because it won't get rejected.

People don't get hugs to get healed. Everyone has their own, albeit selfish reasons for going.

Many years ago she said that most people dissipate the blessing (or shakti) she gives,
usually in a week's time, through watching TV and regular activities. You get 2pts for that one.

Yes I feel that too, though I find it to be so by entertaining the negative thoughts of the ego. I guess that's why people keep going to her. Its all completely useless if you live a wordly life and do no sadhana...I am just speaking for myself I guess. But then again I cringe at the thought of living in an ashram surrounded by Amma devotees

Are you saying there's no positive or neutral thoughts of the ego? I know Amma criticizes
daydreaming as wasting energy and time. Most people wouldn't say daydreaming is so bad.
In fact, a point could be made it's a type of meditation. And what/who determines what's negative?
Simply the opposite of one's own views could be viewed as negative, therefore one stays in their
own ignorant little world inside their mind and personality.

No I mean the negative things that I think sometimes that bring me away from experiencing love and emptiness. I would think the ego is capable of thinking positive thoughts too, but I feel that maybe that too is limited by conditions.

                        I know nothing new.

but, every thing must change because what we are doing isn't working.

becoming a monk wont save the world. Getting a hug and pushing people aside to get close to Amma wont change the world.

~The world is an extension of ourselves so we must change individually~

No one's going to heal us but our innermost self through profound meditation and comprehension of our egos.
                        The light is comprehension.
Once we comprehend then and only then does the divine mother step in and take away our egos with our fervent prayers answered.

                        heal by example.

We truly must stop degenerating. By any means possible.
We are a polluted, diseased and sorry bunch of intellectual animals living in fear and wrongly thinking it is love much of the time.

We need to stop sugar coating things and start looking at our shadow with the crystal clear cup of meditation.

Our leaders are liars and our minds are corrupted by desire, envy, lust, jealousy, pride, and laziness.

we do our mantras mechanically and eat mechanically we have sex like animals and love like fools.

For once I think I agree with you. Sad world we live in.

Though in defense of some of the devotees of Amma, I do know some people who are always doing seva and working hard to help her charities and those who are truly in need. Not all her devotees act like children. Some truly do adhere to what she prescribes. I don't, but I don't pretend to be spiritual. I just serve her when she comes to NYC. The alternative would be to give up my life and serve the needy, but I am not ready to do that. The best I can do is not take too much.

Becoming a monk or not, either one doesn't save the world.
But the practices or observances of a monk could make one
more beneficial to the world. We don't need any more
ignorant zealots in the world, driven by passion and feelings only.

The world IS NOT an extension of ourselves. We are part of it,
but it is not us. A drop in the ocean becomes one with the ocean
                          not the other way around.

What if a person is not meant to be healed? Working through
conflict, (non-preventable preferred) is one way of growing as a person.

Light is not comprehension, Buddhi (intelligence, discrimination) is.
Light is awareness. Know Amma's teachings if you're going to
discuss them here. Understand what you say before preaching it.
Does shining a light in the dark give you comprehension of what
you see? No. No. and No.
