Well, after seeing that war of the blogs post it got me wondering.
How many of you Amma devotees out there actually believe her to be an Avatar ? That is god/goddess in human form.
For myself the jury is still out. I vacillate back and forth and was just curious as to what others thought. All comments are welcome.

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 6:05 PMI know a devotee that claims Amma told her that
she (Amma) is the predicted Kalki Avatar. But it's
too easy to dismiss due to the part about
destroying the evil-doers, uplifting Dharma. Amma doesn't
do any of that in the way Rama and Krishna did. Fact.
If she doesn't correct people, how can people learn?
I'd say Avatar, whose 'focus' or mission changes
over time. The guru-bhaava, which so many claim
to be present in their lives, just isn't so. That's why
you don't see growth in them. They're just as
materialistic, attached, etc as an average person
on the street.
So I'd say Avatar, but who is 90%(+) focused on
humanitarianism, knowing that your average devotee
just wants the bliss of darshan and all the typical
drama. I know many devotees that won't do anything
they don't feel like doing in life. And would turn
away from Amma if they had to start following any
discipline to grow. Take away the fun and drama
and see how quickly they feel "Amma just isn't
for them." -

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 8:32 PMI wonder sometimes if "God" isn't always with us at some point, in the form of an avatar. That is to keep us on track. That he/she manifests periodically to remind us that Love is the Answer. Lord Krishna, Jesus, and the Dalai llama are some other people who might be considered avatars.
So I guess the question is whether or not it is "God", or if it's God working through man/women ?
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Tue, July 14, 2009 - 10:06 AMI believe God is always with us, in us and maybe some of us embrace the God in themselves and are able to be a high expression of this divinity.
I feel like she is going to be different things to different people because of our variety of paths and lessons we are here to learn. She is what you make her. For me personally, she has shown me what mother means in the highest holy sense of the term, it has helped me access this within myself something that was dormant or unexpressed for a long time. Maybe that is selfish but the idea of healing myself first and then sharing that out in the world. As I stated, I am sure this must seem like a selfish perception but it is mine none the less. The level of "surrender" and receiving love that happens in her presence is awe inspiring and I don't know whether she is an avatar or not but there is something that resonates with so many people that is present and it changes lives.

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 10:07 AMAmma is a avtar of for sure. one day amma has shown the real "kali " figure to swamiji. and sevaral times swamiji said that he was with amma over 2 decades and he still does't know '' who is amma '' .eventhough avatar's were uplifting dharma, bhakti, etc and their way of doing will be different from avtar to avtar so you cannot compare one to another..
Amma is doing 3 bhava's
1- matru bhava ( where amma loves each species in the wold )
2- guru bhava ( where amma is the teacher )
3- devi bhava (where amma is the godess)
no avtar has performed many bhavas like amma.that's why we all think amma is from the " supreme power "....
this is what i feel about amma.......
thank you.. -

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Wed, July 22, 2009 - 5:40 PMI think we need a better definition of "Avatar" since to me everyone is God/Goddess in human form, but they are just not conscious of it.
Atman=Brahman
I do find the following interesting though:
"Amma is doing 3 bhava's
1- matru bhava ( where amma loves each species in the wold )
2- guru bhava ( where amma is the teacher )
3- devi bhava (where amma is the godess)
no avtar has performed many bhavas like amma" -

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Sat, August 15, 2009 - 10:33 AMAvatar~
"From the Sanskrit "avatāraḥ," descent (of a deity from heaven), avatar : "ava," down + "tarati," he crosses."
Amma has no attraction or aversion...
When she, Ammas body, hugs people I believe she does things to their Nadis and channels..
...many people go to Amma to give her their power. She takes it...
Right now I believe she takes power away from some and gives gifts to others depending on their level of chastity and purity. I believe She does this for the good of all beings.
Energies are changing rapidly in this solar system with many people going deeper into evil tendencies and gaining power with the disguise of spirituality cloaking them. .. Those that are meditating and increasing desires and ego, are everywhere.
Of course there are miracles happening too.
But No MAn,No Guru, and No God can give to us what is not ours and
No man No Guru and No God can take away from us what is ours.
We can only awaken ourselves... NO ONe will do the work for us. No ONE can...But God will take 5 steps toward us if we take 4.
In my mind Amma teaches selfless service to others.
She is beautiful to me.
But she is not teaching the secret doctrine to the masses .
she an incarnation of the divine mother but not the Kalki Avatar ...
I wonder if the Kalki Avatar is an energy, a logos, a comprehension, an awakening, in good and in evil depending on where we are spiritually.... ?

Sat, August 15, 2009 - 6:01 PMI think Amma probably has a really good laugh at all of things people project upon her. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Mon, August 17, 2009 - 6:54 PMHmmm, maybe. She never has said that she is anything but love. Ive heard that others think she is Kalki...who knows, who cares really. -

Re: Amma as an Avatar ?
Mon, August 17, 2009 - 9:39 PMHere we go again about what *she* claims and believing your own press.
Her biography gives examples of what she claims along with the other books.
What about the incident when her father wanter her to stop the Devi Bhava and
supposedly she died, as only the body belonged to the father?

Yes she does, people just don't want to practice it. As long as
you practice a la carte spirituality, you're drinking from
a cup that you've filled, not the real stuff she is offering.
Tasty, yes, because you know what you like. But is it filling, no.
When you truly approach her teachings with an empty mind,
and start from ground zero, then you will make great progress.
